Frequently asked questions
How long does the session take?+
A DERMAPLANING session takes around 60 minutes. We recommend allowing a little extra time for the initial consultation and personalised skin advice.
Is it true the hair grows back thicker?+
No. Facial vellus hair ("peach fuzz") is fine and doesn't change in thickness or colour when cut — the follicle isn't touched. What happens is that as it regrows the cut tip feels slightly less soft for a few days, which is where the myth comes from.
What does it give me over other exfoliation?+
It removes the layer of dead cells and the vellus hair at once, which is why the skin feels so smooth and make-up sits without catching. It also improves how the actives applied afterwards penetrate, so it is often combined with a mask or a gentle peel.
Is it suitable for acne-prone or rosacea skin?+
With active inflammatory acne, no: a blade over an open lesion can spread it and worsen the breakout. With rosacea we assess case by case and generally prefer friction-free techniques. On other skins, sensitive included, it is very well tolerated.
